Welcome and THANK YOU for stopping by.

Part of my mission in starting this business in 2016 was to slow down and connect with people in real time. I chose to be part of local markets & community events so that I could connect with people in my general area.  But then, "2020 happened" and everyone got used to checking FB for updates on everything, events, products, marketing, etc. I needed to stay connected with customers, so I had to start "making content". I am not a performer or a video editor. I am a hands on artist with a background in sales & marketing. I hate taking pictures and I hate spending hours on lining up graphics and fonts. I am seriously bored by it. I would rather be making soap or candles or magnets or anything not on a screen.

Personally Social Media has WORN ME OUT. I started to pull back from posting on Socials about a year ago. I kept posting for Tale of the Snail because It FEELS like a requirement. Event applications want to see your socials to see if you are legit.  Most of our followers on IG and FB are people I know personally, customers, friends, people I've known from the yoga & CrossFit worlds. I clear out the bots and the creepers. I feel like I have a good connection with our "Followers".

I've been managing social media accounts for small businesses for over 15 years, I know the false reality and sense of connection it can create. When I was working in the fitness industry, I would take time to promote events, create graphics, etc. When the event would come around, I would compare the people attending to the people that interacted on SM, and rarely was there an intersection. I realized a long time ago that my in person clientele is not the same as my social media connections.

With all of the BS that is going on with our country, politics, social media and technology in general, it just doesn't feel right or good to continue using platforms that are so volatile and hateful.

I am about bringing joy to people through good smells, great products & high quality ingredients. I am not about hate. I have no tolerance for bigotry or hate.

I am about meeting people at events and getting to know their dogs week after week. I am about hearing peoples personal memories about different scents.  I am about wearing an Ally AF pin on my apron so that people know I am not about hate. I am about supporting local artisans, farmers, makers & producers, libraries & schools. I am about living slow, taking time to be present in my world, turning my phone off and connecting with those around me.

I want people to come to this site and check out what products we have, of course, but I also want people to read this blog, to learn about our processes, our ingredients, our mission and our Slow Living approach to life.

So here I am, starting in February 2025, trying to break free of the cycle of the Algorithm. Saying Goodbye Social Media, Hello Blog. We hope you stay in touch and come back for updates.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to read.

stay clean. smell good. live slow.
